A liquid castile soap base made for you
Most liquid castile soap bases are manufactured ingredients – surfactant blends made in a factory, designed to be processed further before use. Be Natural’s liquid castile is different. It’s a true handmade soap, crafted from scratch in our Taranaki workshop using real organic oils and traditional saponification. That means it’s pure enough to use exactly as it is – but also the ideal clean base to build your own home cleaning products from.
Use it straight from the bottle as a hand wash or body wash. Dilute it for floors, benches, and bathrooms. Add your favourite essential oils to scent it your way. One base, endless possibilities.
What’s in It (and What Isn’t)
Just five ingredients – nothing you wouldn’t recognise:
- Organic certified coconut oil
- New Zealand extra virgin avocado oil
- Taranaki rainwater
- Potassium hydroxide (used in the process – none remains in the finished soap)
- Sodium borate (a naturally occurring mineral)
No palm oil. No sulphates. No synthetic fragrance. No preservatives. No fillers. No mystery ingredients. Just a clean, honest soap base that’s ready to work.
Why Our Base Is Better
Our liquid castile soap base is a complete, handmade soap that happens to be the perfect base for home cleaning. You don’t need to know anything about soap chemistry to use it. Just dilute, scent if you like, and get on with it.
And because we use New Zealand avocado oil instead of the more common olive oil, our base is richer in Vitamins A and E and natural antioxidants – which means it’s genuinely kind to your skin, even when you’re scrubbing the kitchen.
How to Use It as a Cleaning Base
All-purpose spray: Mix 1 tablespoon castile soap base with 500ml warm water in a spray bottle. Add 10–15 drops of tea tree or lemon essential oil if desired.
Floor cleaner: Add ¼ cup to a bucket of hot water. Cleans without leaving residue.
Dish soap: Use neat or dilute 50/50 with water in a dish soap bottle.
Laundry liquid: Add 2 tablespoons per load directly into the drum.
Hand wash: Pour into a foaming soap dispenser and dilute 1 part soap to 3–4 parts water. Add essential oils to fragrance it your way.
Bathroom & toilet cleaner: Use neat on a cloth or sponge, or dilute in a spray bottle with a few drops of eucalyptus oil.
Important: Never mix castile soap with vinegar. Vinegar is acidic and will break the soap down into oil and water. Use one or the other -— not both.
Add Your Own Scent
Our unscented base is the perfect canvas for your favourite essential oils. Try:
- Tea tree – antibacterial, great for bathrooms and kitchens
- Lemon or orange – fresh and uplifting for everyday cleaning
- Lavender – calming, lovely for hand wash
- Peppermint & eucalyptus – powerful and invigorating for heavy cleaning
- Rosemary – great for laundry
Start with 10–15 drops per 500ml of diluted soap and adjust to your preference.
